Some 944 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) joined an orientation program conducted by the Manila Field Office (MFO) of the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) on June 17, 2022 at the City Government of Manila’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Park n’ Ride Building, Ermita, Manila.

The activity aims to brief said beneficiaries on the SPES and to facilitate their contract signing. The signing of their respective employment contract is an indication of their engagement as SPES beneficiaries of DOLE-NCR beginning June 17, 2022 to July 17, 2022. Prior to their deployment in their respective workplaces, they were also informed of the general task in their place of work, which involve daily clerical duties and frontline service.

MFO SPES focal person Cynthia J. Tolentino led the orientation and discussed the legal bases and objective of the program, implementation process, desirable work attitude, and payment processing. She also congratulated the beneficiaries on behalf of MFO Director Ma. Corazon M. Pepito and encouraged them to seize the opportunity to learn while working. She was joined by fellow labor officer Aries Librando and SPES Program Coordinator Toni Rose Ressurreccion who also assisted in the orientation and contract signing.

SPES aims to provide temporary employment to the poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced workers, among others, to help augment their respective family’s income and to ensure that they pursue their education.
