Some first 500 of the 2,000 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Taguig for the fiscal year 2022 attended an orientation program held in two batches at Vista Mall Taguig on April 19.
Said organized activity for the first batch of Taguig LGU SPES implementation was conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its MUNTAPARLAS Field Office (MTPLFO) in partnership with the City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
MTPLFO Director Leonides P. Castillon, Jr. welcomed the large crowd of beneficiaries and engaged them in his discussion on SPES benefits and work values and attitudes expected of them. With almost a quarter of the batch being out-of-school youth, Director Castillon reiterated the primary objective of the program and encourage beneficiaries to always strive for a better and more meaningful future by continuing and finishing their education with the help of the program. In addition, he cited his personal experience as a former beneficiary of the Government Internship Program (GIP) and a few SPES baby success stories to further motivate and inspire the beneficiaries.
Director Castillon was joined by MTPLFO Labor and Employment Officers and SPES focal persons Ms. Ruby Dimaano and Mr. Christopher Gregorio in discussing the SPES background, processing of payment, and other salient features of the program.
In closing, the MTPLFO head congratulated both the beneficiaries and PESO Taguig for having the most number of allocated SPES beneficiaries among all the local government units in NCR.
