The MUNTAPARLAS Field Office (MTPLFO) of the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) in coordination with the City Government of Taguig’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted an orientation for the beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) at the Signal Village National High School, Taguig City, on October 5, 2022.
There were 131 beneficiaries during the orientation program and considered to be the last batch of the City’s 2,000 program recipients.
PESO Taguig Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Norman M. Mirabel, welcomed the attendees and the grantees of the said program with a congratulatory remark. In his message, he recognized the efforts of the City Government and DOLE by implementing programs aimed at helping the youth become more employable and prepared for the world of work, such as SPES.
Further, MTPLFO Labor and Employment Officers and SPES focal persons Ms. Ruby Dimaano and Mr. Christopher Gregorio discussed the salient features of the program including SPES’ legal bases, objectives, benefits, and processing of salaries. The labor officers also advised the beneficiaries to take the program as an opportunity to help them continue their education and make it their priority and motivation while under SPES. They also urged the beneficiaries to make the most out of their employment opportunity by committing themselves fully to their tasks and valuing all the learnings they can apply for their future careers. Further, they reminded the beneficiaries about the importance of proper work ethics to observe while at work.
The Special Program for Employment of Students is DOLE’s youth employment-bridging program which aims to help poor but deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced or would-be displaced workers pursue their education by providing them temporary employment any time of the year.
