The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), together with the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC) in NCR, held its 3rd quarter regular meeting at the Session Hall of the Makati City Hall on September 15, 2022.
Social partners from the labor, management, and government sectors participated in the event.
Makati City Counselor, Mr. Virgilio “Jong” D. Hilario, Jr. welcomed the participants, followed by the meeting proper as presided by DOLE-NCR Regional Director and RTIPC Chair, Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol. Said meeting also provided an avenue to discuss relevant issues and concerns confronted by the Council.
The meeting also paved way to discuss the latest wage increase in Metro Manila (Wage Order No. NCR-23) as facilitated by Atty. Kim S. Lagcao, Board Secretary VI of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) – NCR. Atty. Lagcao also discussed, among others, the elements of wage distortion, important concepts, procedures to address it, and its different formulas.
Another significant highlight was the approval and adoption of DOLE-NCR-TIPC-TTEC Resolution No. 4, series of 2022 or the “Supplemental Resolution to Manila Tripartite Industrial Peace Council Resolution No. 1, series of 2022, entitled: A Resolution Urging the Manila Local Government Unit to Start Administering Second Booster Shot for A4 Priority Group Providing Urgency for Metro Manila Local Government Units Campaign of Administering Second Booster Shot for A4 Priority Group.” Said resolution was approved by RTIPC Chair following the review and approval of the Makati City TIPC Vice Chairs, Mr. Ignacio Magat (for Labor Sector) and Ms. Lorna Castigador (for Management Sector).
Further to the latter agenda, Director Mirasol also shared the Department of Health’s (DOH) PinasLakas campaign, which aims to raise awareness and to encourage employees to avail the COVID-19 second booster shot. She emphasized that private offices may coordinate with DOLE for its endorsement to the LGU or DOH. In addition, establishments may also request for the conduct of orientation on the benefits of COVID-19 booster vaccine through DOH.
The DOLE-NCR-RTIPC was formed to promote industrial peace and harmony between labor and management, with the assistance of the government, in order to achieve productivity, quality, excellence, growth, and labor justice in the workplace.
