Some 268 rank and file employees, union officers, and the management team of the Metropolitan Medical Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila participated in a DOLE seminar on Labor Relations, Human Relations, and Productivity (LHP) Program on May 6, 20, and 27, 2022.

The LHP is one of the DOLE’s contributions in the labor education and advocacy aspect to help address the challenges of employers and workers in the workplace.

Labor officers Jeremiah T. Carlos and Charity O. Guerra from the Manila Field Office of the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) facilitated the one-day seminar in a conference room of said establishment.

Mr. Carlos facilitated the seminar on the LHP program, which specifically orients employers and workers on labor relations concepts and security of tenure; strategies on human relations such as employee motivation, positive values and meaningful communication; and productivity through 5S. He also covered a special topic on employee discipline.

In a changing workplace, labor relations, harmony, and industrial peace are still the desired end goals and these can be best achieved by secured organizations as they know the rules or policies, deal with fairness and respect, and are productive.

Meanwhile, Ms. Guerra discussed the general labor standards, basic rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, workers’ protection, social security coverage, and other labor-related information.
