Some 172 young individuals engage in public service as government interns following the DOLE-NCR Manila Field Office’s (MFO) expanded implementation of the Government Internship Program (GIP) on August 17, 2022.
Said undertaking was in partnership with the City Government of Manila’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
MFO Labor and Employment Officer II Mr. Ernest Mhel C. Aranda oriented the GIP beneficiaries at the PESO Manila Extension Office at Park N’ Ride Building, Ermita, Manila.
During the orientation, the labor officer emphasized that while under the GIP, the beneficiaries in general are provided an avenue to demonstrate their skills and talents in public service. That being said, he also reminded the beneficiaries to demonstrate excellence in the workplace and to take the internship as a learning opportunity.
The GIP beneficiaries then signed their Internship Agreement to start their immersion in public service. The Internship Agreement entitles interns to receive an allowance equal to the prevailing minimum wage in the National Capital Region (P 570.00).
The interns’ tasks focus on daily clerical duties to assist in the implementation and monitoring of key programs of the Department of Labor and Employment and/or the City Government of Manila.
In total, DOLE-NCR MFO has assisted 1,048 individuals.
