Some fifty former child laborers from Districts I, II, and IV in the City of Manila received gifts from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its social partners and enjoyed the ambiance of the World Class Zoological Park in Manila on June 18, 2022.

Said activity was through Project Angel Tree—a component of the Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) of the DOLE that aims to provide an array of social services that ranges from food, clothing, educational assistance or school supplies, and work and training opportunities made available by the sponsors or benefactors called “Angels” to the identified child laborers and their families.

The DOLE-National Capital Region through its Manila Field Office (MFO) conducted the activity in partnership with the City Government of Manila’s Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and Rotary Club of Metro East Caloocan.

The Rotary Club of Metro East Caloocan donated personal hygiene kits, bags, plastic mats, and baby diapers while the MDSW shared 2 boxes of food assistance per 1 participant which included a set of 3 meals for the said activity.

Likewise, DOLE-NCR Regional Office through its Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol also graced the activity and led the awarding of white shirts for the children. Further, DOLE-NCR MFO Director Ma. Corazon M. Pepito were also present to provide tokens to each beneficiary.
