The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) has issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-03 last June 21, 2022, which provides for additional P1,000 increase in monthly pay for Domestic Workers (or ‘Kasambahay’) in Metro Manila, giving a total of Six Thousand Pesos (P6,000) new monthly minimum wage.

The decision was based upon the collegial decision of the Board after conducting an in-depth wage review on the socio-economic conditions in the region, needs of domestic workers and their families, prevailing wage rates, capacity of the employers to pay, including those relevant data affecting the interests of both employers and domestic workers.

Earlier, a public hearing was held on June 17, 2022 to gather all their issues and concerns as well as their insights, which was considered during the Board’s wage deliberation.

The new Order will cover all domestic workers in the region, whether on a live-in or live-out arrangement and such does not allow any exemption. It also encourages employers to adopt a competency-based pay scheme in setting and adjusting the pay of domestic workers over and above the applicable minimum wage.

Said Order was published on June 27, 2022 at the Philippine Star and takes effect fifteen (15) days thereafter.
