The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region joined the recently held Regional Development Report Consultation and Validation Workshop. The activity was spearheaded by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) with the aim of validating the accomplishments made by the different line agencies. Held at the Novotel, Cubao, Quezon City on May 24-25, 2022, the activity likewise intend to elicit ways forward as policy recommendations for the incoming administration.

DOLE-NCR was represented by Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Senior Labor and Employment Officer and Ms. Ria Banayag, Planning Officer. Said personnel were tasked to validate the results of Chapter 7: Human Capital Development, Chapter 8: Vulnerability of Individuals and Families and Chapter 10: Demographic Dividend.

During the workshop, the Department’s contributions on human development were highlighted and discussed thoroughly. Programs on workers’ welfare such as the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program including the Tulong Pangkabuhayan/Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) were presented as interventions that cater to the needs of the marginalized sector.

Youth interventions such as the Special Program for Employment of Students, and Government Internship Program were also presented to highlight the value of said programs as modalities to increase youth employability through actual work immersion. Other interventions presented is the profiling of child laborers and the assistance provided to their parents for skills enhancement and augmentation of financial capacity.

The programs and services of DOLE were lauded as contributors to the efforts of the government on economic rebound after the health crisis due to COVID-19. Likewise, the contributions of DOLE will be used as basis for policy enhancement in the regional plans for the incoming administration.
