The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) launched its series of E-Kapihan Sessions on September 16 and 23, 2020 via Zoom application and Facebook Live streaming with the theme: Creating Fit for Purpose Compensation Package.”

Said activity was conceptualized by the National Wages and Productivity Board (NWPC) that aims to showcase Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region with notable compensation package given to their workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Board discussed how today’s global health crisis has brought negative effects particularly in the region’s economy, as most businesses are experiencing disruptions, and among other things such as streamlining of operations, temporary or permanent closures, retrenchments, and adoption of flexible work arrangements that had led to great loss of income, massive job displacements, and loss of livelihood.

As businesses are still battling with the said effects in their operations, the participant MSMEs were also taught on how to develop or adopt new strategies to help their enterprises thrive in the new normal. With people as the most valuable asset in any organizations, the Board also emphasized the employer’s role in keeping their workforce productive, efficient, and motivated at work even during the time of pandemic by way of providing support through recognition or giving monetary or non-monetary incentives.

The Board also featured Thousand Oaks Packaging Corporation and Berjaya Hotel-Makati—two of their Productivity Champion beneficiaries. The Board said that both establishments have showed notable and exceptional performance during the time of pandemic as they have continuously provided packages of performance-based benefits to their workers to augment the disturbing effects of the crisis. The Board added that both strongly believed in the importance of their people, adopted productivity measures in their workplace, and showed selfless support to their workers.

Participants also joined the Board’s online poll survey and question and answer segment and have expressed their appreciation for the said activity.
