The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Makati-Pasay Field Office (MPFO) headed by OIC-Director II Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson administered the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected officers and regional board of directors of the Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) Employees Union on July 8, 2022.

In his short address on his official assumption to office, newly elected union president Mr. Ignacio Y. Magat emphasized his commitment to uphold the duties and responsibilities of his position in furthering their union’s cause.

“We as duly elected officers must act for and in behalf of all our members on matters relating to collective bargaining with respect to salaries, wages, hours of work and other terms and conditions of employment,” said Magat who also sworn in as the new Vice-Chair for Labor Sector of the Makati Tripartite Industrial Peace Council.

Other newly elected union officers were Ms. Maria Almira Atienza, Executive Vice President; Mr. Cyrus Secillano, Vice President for Luzon; Mr. Joel Guerrero, Vice President for Visayas; Mr. Alex Yahya, Vice President for Mindanao; Ms. Bernadette Reyes-Cabodil, Secretary; Mr. Dennis Rodel Babao, Treasurer; Mr. Melchor Balagtas, Auditor; and Mr. Joseph Pacheco, Press Relations Officer. Likewise, the newly elected regional board of directors were Mr. Neil Espineda, Mr. Julius Burce, Mr. Manuel Marasigan, Ms. Valerie Ramboyong, Mr. Michael Magtibay, and Ms. Rhizajoyce Ong.

Meanwhile, MPFO OIC-Director II Atty. Obrero-Samson evoked the need to utilize the organized economic power of the workers and underscored the significance and primary purpose of creating labor unions.

“May you always be reminded that the application of the rights which are encased together with the position and right of membership extended upon all of you carries with it the continuous duties and responsibilities which you are expected to uphold with utmost integrity and fairness,” she said.

The MPFO head also wished for a fruitful and productive term of service for all of the elected officers and their unremitting role as defenders of labor rights and instruments of industrial peace.

Said union officers will serve for a fixed term of five (5) years from the actual date of their assumption.
