The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its Quezon City Field Office (QCFO) awarded livelihood assistance to a group of identified parents of child laborers in Quezon City on September 9 and 16, 2022.
QCFO Director, Engr. Martin T. Jequinto led the awarding of the DOLE BikeCINATION Project to boost the household income of the said parents and to help free their children from child labor activities that hinders their access to education.
To kick start their new delivery business, each beneficiary received a bicycle unit and accessories such as helmet, thermal bag, reflectorized vest, lights, water bottle, and an android mobile phone with an electronic load wallet amounting to 5,000.00 pesos.
The parents of child laborers are among the priority beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) which is a strategic response of the Department to help prevent and eliminate child labor incidences.
