The Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through its MUNTAPARLAS Field Office awarded a Bigasan (Rice Retailing) Livelihood Package under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program for the 25 parents of child laborers in Taguig City on November 5, 2021.

Of the said figure, 12 beneficiaries were from Barangay Maharlika while 13 were from Barangay Upper Bicutan. Each beneficiary received eight sacks of 25kg rice worth P10,000.

DOLE-NCR MUNTAPARLAS Field Office team headed by Director Leonides P. Castillon, Jr. led the awarding of livelihood assistance together with DOLE-NCR Community Facilitators, Taguig City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) representatives and Barangay officials.

In his message, Director Castillon, Jr. mentioned the efforts of DOLE-NCR in addressing the child labor concerns by providing livelihood aid to the parents of child laborers to help augment their household income and free their children from being exposed to various forms of child labor.

The Barangay officials also conveyed their messages of support and urged the parents to do their best in nurturing the assistance provided by the government.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries thanked DOLE-NCR MUNTAPARLAS Field Office and Taguig City PESO for the assistance and assured the local officials of their part in making the livelihood grant profitable and sustainable.
