True to its objective to strengthen the youth employability of Pasay, the local city government in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) through the Makati-Pasay Field Office signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to initiate the implementation of the JobStart Philippines Program on June 14, 2021 at Pasay City Hall.
Established five years ago by the DOLE to enhance the employability of Filipino youth through full-cycle employment facilitation services, the JobStart Philippines Program provides life skills training, career coaching, technical skills training and paid internship to at-risk, out-of-school and unemployed youths.
The said MOA targets one hundred (100) youth beneficiaries from various Barangays in Pasay who will be included in the 10-day Life Skills Training (LST) as part of the primary phase of the program.
Present during the event were Hon. Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, Pasay City Mayor; Atty. Russel A. Jallorina, DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director; Atty. Olivia O. Obrero-Samson, DOLE-NCR Makati-Pasay Field Office OIC-Director; and Filipinas Rosario Sampang, Pasay City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager.
Mayor Calixto-Rubiano emphasized that the JobStart Philippines Program is an effective mitigation program of the government concerning youth unemployment and continuous synergy has to be observed among the involved agencies and stakeholders to fully achieve the program’s goals.
The Pasay local chief executive also expressed her deepest gratitude to the Department for its continuous support to the City’s objective of reducing unemployment rate especially during this time of pandemic. She appreciated the efforts made by the Department in reaching out to the at-risk youths and helping them to gain knowledge, hone their skills, and provide them decent employment.
