On September 17, 2021, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of Manila conducted a virtual orientation on JobStart Philippines for employers as it gears up for the implementation of the program. This venture was intended by PESO Manila to identify prospective partners in the private sector to be employers of the program beneficiaries.

In an opening message delivered by Ruby Socorro Daquigan, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer of the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) – Manila Field Office, she highlighted the importance of the JobStart Philippines Program as a measure of the DOLE to enhance youth employability. She also mentioned that the program aims to lessen the Filipino youth’s difficulty in getting a job especially with the COVID-19 pandemic in the background by providing them with training and work experience as interns.

Leila Legayo, Regional Focal Person for JobStart of the Employment Promotion and Workers Welfare Division of DOLE-NCR mentioned in her discussion that a company’s engagement as a JobStart employer partner is an access for employers to attain more linkages and opportunities to demonstrate corporate social responsibility. Moreover, she emphasized that being an employer partner is an additional measure of companies to help the unemployed youth in attaining a job.

Meanwhile, PESO Manila Manager Fernan Bermejo thanked the potential employer partners who attended the activity and encouraged their involvement in the JobStart Philippines program implementation for the Manileño youth.
