With the current pandemic continuously challenging the day-to-day operations of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), maintaining resiliency is key in order to pull through in times of disruptions.
On March 24, 2021, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) conducted a webinar on “Business Continuity Planning and Management (BCPM), Driving Productivity in the Better Normal,” with establishments from Valenzuela City.
In partnership with the Valenzuela City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (VCTIPC), employer representatives from participating establishments were oriented on managing business activities amidst health and economic crisis, and were presented measures on how to resume operations in the context of the new and better normal. The BCPM seeks to support and provide assistance to MSMEs that were adversely affected by disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) resource person Julie C. Llorente outlined the 7 Steps of the BCPM from assessing the level of risks and vulnerability of the business, up to developing and testing the effectiveness of the plan.
Employer representative from Valenzuela City expressed appreciation on the BCPM module and saw the importance of cascading the concept to the other members of their organization. They affirm that thorough planning must be a product of collaborative efforts between the management and the workers.
Follow through assistance will be provided by the RTWPB-NCR to guide interested establishments in the development of their Business Continuity Plans.
