MALATE, Manila—Some 629 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP) assigned at the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) will soon get their salaries and wages through PayMaya app, a digital payment solutions provider.
That was made possible when DOLE-NCR inked a deal with PayMaya Philippines, Inc. on March 1, 2022.
In her message, DOLE-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol, emphasized that the partnership with PayMaya is a testament to their continued effort in streamlining their operations in response to the increasing demand for digitalizing transactions in view of the COVID-19 preventive measures.
“This partnership would be for the betterment of our service for efficient implementation of programs of the Department of Labor and Employment…we are so excited that PayMaya is now on board and we look forward to more programs with them,” she said.
In the agreement, DOLE-NCR may also tap PayMaya’s services to do same for the beneficiaries of Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and other programs. As of press time, the regional office said it shall pilot first the GIPs to facilitate their payroll covering March 1-15, 2022.
“The government internship program is just the start. We will be including yung ating collection for our alien employment permit for the payment from our clients,” the Regional Director added.
PayMaya lauded DOLE-NCR for being open to digitalizing payments and disbursements; expressing the same support once the regional office are set to use PayMaya app for other DOLE services, when appropriate.
“We are equally excited. In fact, napag-usapan na po natin kanina kung ano ba talaga yung benefit nito and the excitement is coming from the fact that kayo po mismo yung DOLE ang nagpu-push ng digital payment or digital way of disbursing funds…we will use this as parang catalyst or a model for all other government agencies,” PayMaya Managing Director for Enterprise Mario Lazaro said.
DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Directors, Atty. Russel A. Jallorina and Atty. Jude Thomas P. Trayvilla also signed the MOA together with Regional Director Mirasol while PayMaya Business Head for Government Sector Marvin Santos joined Managing Director Lazaro.
